    Treasure Tuesday

I’ve been making reading for pleasure a higher priority in my life and now read for 20 minutes before I go to sleep (instead of falling asleep to Netflix)! 2.  The best kind of exercise there is. 3. As you all may know, your favorite guest author is currently living in Germany. He spent this past weekend in France and ended up meeting someone from my hometown. It just goes to show you how small the world really is. 4. These book store signs featured on Buzzfeed have restored my faith in humanity. My favorite has got to be #20. 5. FGCU, a university a ton of my friends attend,…

    Survivor

Title: Unbroken Author: Laura Hillenbrand Genre: Biography Quotation: “Where there’s still life, there’s still hope.” Would recommend to: any who likes to root for the underdog. Laura Hillenbrand’s novel chronicling the life of Louis Zamperini is both informative and inspiring. By telling the tale of Zamperini’s life, Hillenbrand also informs readers about the truth behind prisoner-of-war situations during WWII. I’ve always been very interested in history, and I’ve even heard people talk about their time in POW camps. But I can honestly say that nothing made me feel more emotions than hearing what Hillenbrand reported of Zamperini’s struggles. He was definitely the underdog of his own story. Although you believe he is the star after…

Top 5 Wednesday: Favorite Things About Blogging

I am so excited for this weeks Top 5 Wednesday because I get to share with you all the things I love about blogging! 1. Being creative I love love love coming up with new ideas for my blog and sharing creative things with you that aren’t just reviews. 2. Sharing good stories with everyone When I read a book that I fall in love with, I am so excited to tell you all about it. Books are great, but if you have no one to share them with, what’s the point? 3. Discovering new books Being a part of something bigger and seeing what others have to say about books that…

Top 10 Tuesday: Series I Want to Read

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It’s a fun way for bloggers all over the Internet to connect and post the things they love about books. This weeks topic was the top ten series you have yet to finish, but I tend to finish series in a matter of days when they are all printed (with the exception of series that have too many books — I’m looking at you “Pretty Little Liars”.) So, I decided to switch up my topic to reflect the top ten series I want to read. 1. The Infernal Devices — Cassandra Clare I read the first book and…

    Treasure Tuesday

I am currently reading “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” because it’s my favorite and I needed some comfort reading this week. 2.  3. My sorority is hosting our first philanthropy event of the year this Thursday. It involves pizza and dessert (I’m contributing home-made brownies), and all proceeds are going to benefit the Family Abuse Services organization in our town. 4. Here are some text messages from Buzzfeed that book nerds would love to receive. #4 speaks to my heart. And so does #6. And so does pretty much every other text on this list. 5.  6. I have my first test in German tomorrow. Wish me luck! Happy…

    A Praising Review for Leibowitz

Title: A Canticle for Leibowitz Author: Walter M. Miller, Jr. Genre: Dystopian/Sci-Fi Quotation: “Back then, in Saint Leibowitz’ time, maybe they didn’t know what would happen. Or perhaps they did, but could not quite believe it until they tried it…” Would Recommend to: Fans of 1984 or Brave New World Miller’s tragic and poignant Hugo Award winner still rings true A canticle, from the Latin canticum, is commonly translated as a song or hymn of praise. A Canticle for Leibowitz is a stark look into the dystopian future, where humanity may not be praiseworthy at all. Divided into three main sections, the novel is centered on the Leibowitz Abbey, a…

Top 10 Tuesday: Characters I Just Didn't Click With

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It’s a fun way for bloggers all over the Internet to connect and post the things they love about books. This week is dedicated to the characters we just didn’t click with from the beginning. 1. Four- Divergent I’m almost really sorry about this one — but I just didn’t like Four that much, especially when we were thrown inside his head. I liked him enough in the first two books, but I didn’t like him enough to see the story from his point of view. I felt the different viewpoints made the reader feel disconnected from…

    Treasure Tuesday

I am currently swamped in homework! But I am slowly making my way through “Identical”. I promise! 2. These adorable cats living in grocery stores from a Buzzfeed article are bound to instantly brighten your day! (My personal favorite is #10.) 3. 4. This is actually really old news, but it still makes me smile when a read it. Posted on Though Catalog, a mailman collects a crazy amount of books for a kid he caught reading junk mail. It’s such an uplifting story, and it reminds us all that we should be thankful for the opportunities we are afforded in life. 5. I am the editor-in-chief of my yearbook…
