    Catching My Eye | 12.4.20

Happy first week of December! I can’t believe we have almost made it through 2020. The year with seven Marchs is finally, hopefully coming to an end. I’m not going to lie, this week was a weirdly tough one. I had a nagging health issue pop up again, and I had to get that taken care of which always messes up my week, but I am so lucky to have friends that take care of me and a boyfriend who is always willing to bring me dinner and watch crappy TV with me. I’m going into this weekend excited! My boyfriend wasn’t here for my birthday, so he has a…

Books to Buy as Gifts this Black Friday

It’s no secret that I love giving books to my friends and family during the holiday season. Sometimes I gift them something that fits their personality (like a coffee table book) or I find a perfect, evergreen book to gift them. I’m going to breakdown the best books to give this holiday season for anyone in your life. Let’s get started! one | for the person who loves working on themselves… Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes. We all know Shonda Rhimes as the truly amazing screenwriter for shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, but aside from her writing skills, Rhimes usually liked to stay behind the scenes. She passed up opportunity after opportunity…

    Catching My Eye | 6.28.19

I’m not going to lie to all of you — I’ve been really tired lately. I’m not sure if it’s because of everything going on (big events, moving, etc), but I just want to curl up under my comfort and sink into a world of dreams for the rest of the weekend. Despite being the most tired I have been in a long time, this week was still a crazy one. I met up with a new friend on Monday, tackled a bunch of new leadership tasks on Tuesday and Wednesday, got BBQ with my brother and Tori on Thursday, and I’m heading to the Bad on Paper live show…

Top 5 Podcasts to Listen To

Podcasts have been having their moment in the sun for a few years now, but I’m still just as obsessed with them as I was a few years ago. I love having noise around me at all times (Silence can be scary, okay?), so whether I’m doing my makeup or cleaning my bathroom, I like to have a podcast playing. I have different podcasts for different occasions — news is strictly for my morning routine, murder podcasts are on full blast when I’m working out, and brain food podcasts are for when I’m doing work that doesn’t require a lot of attention. I listen to a wide range of radio…

Top 6 Books To Give As Christmas Presents

Christmas is just around the corner (Happy Hanukkah to those that celebrate!), and my favorite gift to give is, of course, books. There are a myriad of reasons as to why I love giving books to my friends and family: 1) It’s easy. 2) There’s something for everyone. 3) I get to share my passion with others. 4) Books. Do I need any other reasons? I’m not sure exactly what I’m getting everyone on my list this year, but I’m sure a few books will be thrown in to the mix. This week, I’ve cultivated a list of the top books to give as Christmas presents. Let’s get started!

Top 5 Books I’m Thankful For

I have so much in my life to be thankful for, so I figured I would continue the trend of sharing what I’m thankful for into this week. I had a lovely Thanksgiving last week with friends and family, and I’m still working my way through leftovers as I write this post. Is there anything better than Thanksgiving leftovers? I don’t think so. I have so many books to be thankful for because of what they taught me about the world and about myself, but I narrowed this weeks post down to the top 5 books I’m thankful for. Let’s get started!

    October Reading Wrap Up

October brought some new adventures, a wonderful amount of reading, and a feeling of great success when it came to my goals. There’s something about these fall months that makes me feel like I’m walking on air. I’m not sure if it’s the cozy coffee house vibes, an addition of my new favorite fall scarf to my wardrobe, or finally feeling like I’m in the right place, but October was just a bundle of joy for me. I read A LOT this past month, so let’s get started with this October reading wrap up! Books from my October TBR List Image from Penguin Books Australia 1. Salt to the Sea by Ruta…

    September TBR List

I’m cheating a little bit — but only a little bit — because these books were on some of my older TBR lists. I hope you can forgive me. I still haven’t gotten around to them (unfortunately, I didn’t read as much in August as I expected — life got in the way), but I’m DETERMINED to finish these books during September. From massive books discussed the decline in violence throughout time to an adult fantasy, September’s reads are sure to take me on a journey. Let’s get started! Image from Amazon

Top 4 Books to Read on July 4th

There’s no holiday like Independence Day. Everyone dons their red, white, and blue, fireworks light up the night sky, and you get to truly enjoy your freedom because (normally) you get a day off of work. I’ve had some pretty good July 4ths and some pretty awful July 4ths, but still, I try to enjoy the day by going to the beach or reading a good book. This year I decided to compile a list of the perfect books to read on this momentous day. Let’s get started! Image from Amazon

Top 5 Books To Give Dad for Father’s Day

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate Dad than by giving him an adventure of a lifetime. I truly think there is nothing better than giving a book as a gift. Today I’ve got five books you can give your dad for Father’s Day that are sure to make him feel special. Let’s get started! Image from Amazon 1. “The Hobbit” by J.R.R. Tolkien What better book to give Dad than a classic adventure tale? “The Hobbit” is one of my favorite books because of the simple joy it encapsulates. Bilbo, a hobbit who has never know fun and friendship, is invited to go…
