Top 5 Books To Give Dad for Father’s Day

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate Dad than by giving him an adventure of a lifetime. I truly think there is nothing better than giving a book as a gift. Today I’ve got five books you can give your dad for Father’s Day that are sure to make him feel special. Let’s get started! Image from Amazon 1. “The Hobbit” by J.R.R. Tolkien What better book to give Dad than a classic adventure tale? “The Hobbit” is one of my favorite books because of the simple joy it encapsulates. Bilbo, a hobbit who has never know fun and friendship, is invited to go…

Top 10 Tuesday: Books I Love (That I Bet You Didn’t Know I Loved)

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It combines what I love most in this world into one—lists, books, and blogging. It couldn’t be any better suited for me! This week I’m going to let you guys know about the books I love, that I haven’t really talked about a lot on here. I feel like you all know how much I love Harry Potter and Divergent, but here’s my lesser well known favorites. Let’s get started! 1. All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven I raved about this when I first read it a few months ago, but I truly think it’s one of my favorites. I think…

    Top 5 Wednesday: Badasses

Have you ever been really excited to read a beautiful book you found in the corner of a bookstore only to find out it’s terrible? We all have. This week I’m going to talk about the baddest of the bad — the characters who just embody “BADASS.” To me, a “badass” means you go against the grain without a care in the world and everyone kind of loves you for it. Here are my favorites: 1. Jace Wayland — The Mortal Instruments Jace was most likely the first true “bad boy” I ran into in my reading endeavors. I read The Mortal Instruments when I was much too young and impressionable and…

Top 5 Wednesday: Kimberly Goes Rouge

So here’s the thing… I didn’t really like this weeks topic (favorite graphic novels), so I decided to go with my own. This week I will talk about my favorite movies that are also books. 1. Mazerunner I loved this movie, but guess what…I hated the book. I read it as an adult after seeing the movie, and Dylan O’Brien just doesn’t transfer onto paper. The writing wasn’t that well done to me and it seemed like it was written for a much younger audience. But I love the plot line and really recommend that older readers watch the movie rather than read the book. (This is probably the only time I will ever…

    A Satirical Comparision

Title: Fight Club vs. Rant: The Oral Biography of Buster Casey Author: Chuck Palahniuk Genre: Satirical Fiction Quotations: “Nothing is static. Everything is falling apart.” vs. “Please, don’t kill it with big words.” Would recommend to: people who like a punch in the gut at the end of a mind-spinning novel. If you’ve ever read a book that left you questioning every word written in the entire novel, Chuck Palahniuk’s novels would be great for you. I’ve only read “Fight Club” and “Rant,” but each left me confused until the last 100 pages or so. (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/713q4LW2y0L.jpg) Probably like many of you, I hate watching a movie before I have read the…
