    Top 5 Lessons of 2018

Happy two-thousand and nineteen! Who was more than ready to say goodbye to 2018? Who hasn’t quite gotten over their New Year’s Eve hangover yet? Hang in there, I think 2019 is going to be better than expected. I like to reflect every December/January on the big lessons I learned in each year. Whether the year was good, bad, or just plain Jane, I know I learned important lessons throughout the 365 days. 2018 was a good but weird year for me. It was my first full year post-grad. I changed jobs multiple times due to some unforeseen situations. I traveled to new and different places. I made new friends,…

24 Lessons Learned Before Turning 24

It’s official. I’m 24. Does this mean I can start calling myself old now and it’s acceptable? No? Okay. Jokes aside, I’m actually really excited for what this year brings! I know 24 is kind of a throw away year (as was 23), but that doesn’t mean I can’t make it a great year for myself. I feel like we always wait for big moments (whether that means a new birthday, a new start to the calendar year, or the new start to a week) to make the changes we want to see in our lives, but I’m not waiting any longer. 24 is the year I make things happen,…

A Few Lessons I’ve Learned From My Grandmother

My grandmother (everyone in the family calls her Nani) turned 93 yesterday — NINETY-THREE! I know people live to be much older than this, but as my only living grandparent, I’m pretty darn proud of her for sticking around this long. This isn’ my typical blog post, but I wanted to honor her in a way that I could look back on in years to come. Let me tell you a little something about my grandmother — she is strong, brave, kind, inspirational, and a spit-fire. She treats complete strangers like family, says exactly what is on her mind, and never says no to dessert. She’s survived 93 years full…

Top 10 Lessons I Learned in College

Happy Elon Day! I graduated in May 2017 from Elon University in Elon, North Carolina. It’s a small(ish), liberal arts school that educates the northeast on southern charm (it’s got a lot of kids from Connecticut and New Jersey who like frats and country music). Every March we celebrate Elon Day — a day dedicated to fundraising and donating, but also focused on appreciating a fantastic university and the opportunities it affords its students. Even though I’m officially a real world freshman, I still wanted to celebrate, and of course, that involves a blog post highlighting the top ten lessons I took with me from university. Let’s get started! 1.…

Top 7 Young Adult Books To Read At Any Age

I am of the firm opinion that one is never too old to enjoy a young adult novel. YA authors tend to tackle topics like sexuality, abuse, mental health, and family dynamics in an easily digestible manner that can teach anyone at any age about an important life topic. I continue to read YA novels in my free time because I feel like I still have something to learn about the developing mind. I’ve got a list of seven YA novels that I think people can read at any age to learn more about themselves and others. Let’s get started! Image from Amazon 1. “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”…

    7 Lessons from 2017

2017 felt like a constant battle. I dealt with a lot of (pointless) drama during my last semester of college, I graduated, I moved (twice), and I started a new job; looking back, it really wasn’t all that bad. This was a year of growing up and discovering a lot about myself in the process. Check out what I learned this year and what knowledge I plan to take with me into 2018 to make it my best year yet. 1. Forgiveness doesn’t come easy, but it’s essential to moving forward. I’ve been hurt a lot in my life. By people that know it and people that don’t. I’m sure…

    22 Things I Learned By 23

This day marks my 23 birthday, and let me tell you, 23 seems a lot older than 22. So on this joyous occasion, I wanted to share some of the lessons I have learned during my short time on Earth. 22 to be exact. 1. Dry shampoo is your best friend. Honestly, anything that saves you time is a good investment. Time is money people. 2. You don’t owe anyone your friendship. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been friends with them since you were in diapers. if they were there for you when your mother died, or if they’ve paid off your college loans for you, if someone treats you…
