    Sometimes Things Don’t Work Out…

As you may know, I tried to do a reading marathon this weekend. Much to my utter determination, it did not pan out as planned. And that’s okay. I really wanted to finish two books this weekend (I had four that I should have finished), but it was just not going to happen. Despite popular belief, compared to some people, I’m actually a slow reader, and I should have known from the start that I wasn’t going to be able to finish everything on my list. And that’s okay. You know what I did instead of finishing three books? I got cocktails with my friends. I spent time with my…

How to Be a Better Student

Happy belated move-in weekend, Elon! I can’t believe it’s been six (SIX) years since I stepped foot on my alma mater’s campus for my first day of school. If you would have told me on that day where I would be now, I never would have believed you. While I’m perfectly content being in the real world, I do think back from time-to-time on what it would be like to do school all over again. What would I do differently? The same? Everything happens for a reason, so I would never change anything about my experience, but I can impart some wisdom on the new kids on the block. Whether…

    The Good in Goodbye…

Before you start panicking, I’m not saying goodbye to blogging! I’m moving this week from the first and only home I’ve had in Nashville, and it’s got me thinking a lot about goodbyes. I’ve never been a fan of goodbyes, and unfortunately, I’ve had to say a lot of them in 2019. Some of them were harder than others, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say all of them were hard and still affecting me in some way or another today. The grief of a goodbye hits us at odd times — when we least expect it and definitely feel like we should be over it — but grief…

    Why I Got A Tattoo

Surprise! I got a tattoo! About three weeks ago, on May 4th, I decided to scar my body for the rest of my life, and it’s the best decision I ever made. As most of you know, my grandmother passed away earlier this year. It was expected, but it was still hard. To make it harder, my family never got the chance to celebrate her amazing life. So, I made a choice to honor her in my own way — by getting a tattoo. Truthfully, I try to honor her life every day by living it how she would have liked me to. I say yes to far more opportunities,…

    Adulting: A Review

Title: Adulting: How to Become a Grown-up in 468 Easy(ish) Steps Author: Kelly Williams Brown Genre: Humor Quotation: “Intentions are nice, but ultimately intentions don’t really matter because they only exist inside you.” Would recommend to: anyone making big, adult changes in their life (like buying an apartment) or anyone that doesn’t really know how to adult (like at all)! I talked about this book a while ago, and I’m finally getting to writing this review — like an adult. I don’t know about you, but I’m at that age where I’m not a girl, not yet a woman, and I thought this book would be perfect for me during this awkward transition. Adult…

Me Talk Pretty One Day: A Review

Title: Me Talk Pretty One Day Author: David Sedaris Genre: Essay Quotation: “I can’t promise I’ll never kill anyone again…It’s unrealistic to live your life within such strict parameters.” Would recommend to: anyone that likes short stories. This is one of those books you read excerpts from in high school and people rave about after they read. It’s one of those books you may have heard about since being a kid and just haven’t gotten around to but swear you’ll read it next year. It’s one of those books that people say you’ve just GOT to read. But I’ve got to say…I wasn’t not blown away. Don’t get me wrong, I thought it was a…
