Top 5 Books From Required Reading Lists

Even though I’ve always loved reading, getting through a required reading list in school was always a struggle for me. Typically, I always read the books, but some books were harder to get through than others. Some of my favorite required reading was actually in a introduction to literature class I took during my senior year of school. That’s where I read The Great Gatsby for the first time and fell in love with Beloved (two books I’ll talk about later in this post). Whether you’ve been an avid reader since you first learned, or reading has always been the bane of your existence, it’s always going to be a part of your life,…

    Top 7 Summer Books

A part of me feels like I was just anticipating warm, spring days, but now, I’m in full on summer mode. Transitional seasons only last for a couple days, which is highly disappointing since they seem to be everyone’s favorite, but I’ve learned to accept it and jump on board for whatever season Nashville decides to be. I wanted to do a post dedicated to the books I think encompass that summer feeling. Books you can read on the beach or curled up in blankets on the couch. Summer is the perfect time to read no matter the setting that’s most comfortable to you. Let’s get started. Image from Amazon…

Top 10 Books to Read in College

Most universities have been in session for at least a month now (some for two), so I thought, what better way to welcome the new school year than by creating a book list just for college students (honestly, the lessons these books teach are timeless, but I think they especially pack a punch for those still in school). I know it’s hard to make time for reading when you’re rushing between classes, meetings, and study sessions, but if you’re anything like me, reading is your therapy, and you can manage to squeeze in at least 15 minutes a day to pick up a good book. Here is my list of…

Top 10 Tuesday: Books I Still Need to Read

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It combines what I love most in this world into one—lists, books, and blogging. It couldn’t be any better suited for me! This week I’m going to be slightly embarrassed to list some of the books on my shelf that I haven’t read from before my blogging days. I’ve only been blogging for a little over a year now, so this shouldn’t be too bad. Let’s get started! 1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen Even though I’ve started it more times than I can count. 2. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams It’s been daringly…

    Top 10 Tuesday: Looking Back

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It combines what I love most in this world into one—lists, books, and blogging. It couldn’t be any better suited for me! This week’s topic is all about the books released in 2015 that you just didn’t get around to. I’m actually going to focus on ANY book I wanted to read last year that I didn’t get to because the year of a book release isn’t very important to me — I just care about the book. Let’s get started! 1. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald I bought this in a used bookstore last year, but…

Top 5 Wednesday: Books I Never Finished [OOPS!]

Today I’m going to be confessing yet another book faux-pas — Sometimes I’ve started books…and never finished them. BUT I WILL. One day. Eventually. When I muster up the courage to pick it up again and actually finish it. Here’s my shameful list. 1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen I almost finished this one! And then sophomore year of college started. I promise I’ll get around to it. Hopefully over Thanksgiving break! 2. The Great Gastby by F. Scott Fitzgerald I’ve seriously been meaning to read this classic since high school. I’ve started it many a time, but I’ve just never gotten into it. I will keep trying though, I…

    Treasure Tuesday

Happy Tuesday ya’ll! 1. I just finished “Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore” last night, and let me tell you, it was wonderful! I’ll have a “Little Thoughts” post up later this week. 2.  3. Last week my boyfriend went to return some books (some were about the Yankees) to Barnes and Noble. Sadly, it wouldn’t take them because he didn’t have a receipt. But he saw a kid and his mother in line buying a book about the Yankees, so rather than go home with the books he didn’t want, he gave them to the aspiring baseball player. Stories like that make my heart melt. 4. I don’t know about you, but…

    The Best Kind of Shopping

Hello fellow bookworms, This past week my guest author, Ryan, was in town visiting me. Naturally we spent a little  (try too much) time in some bookstores around the area. I’m here today to show you what I bought in a mini book haul blog post. Barnes and Nobel Finds Barnes and Nobel has all these awesome displays of books ranging from beach reads to books that make you think. “This is Where I Leave You” (and the other book I picked up) was in a section of top fiction right now. I started reading it in the store and automatically fell in love with Tropper’s writing. It’s a story…
