    Top 10 Tuesday: Inspirations

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It combines what I love most in this world into one—lists, books, and blogging. It couldn’t be any better suited for me! This week is all about what books have inspired you to do or learn more about, like climbing a mountain, trying a new recipe, or researching World War I. Let’s get started! 1. Leaving my comfort zone “Wild” by Cheryl Strayed is all about her journey hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, and while I know I probably don’t have the heart for that, it really inspired me to push my boundaries and try new things.…

Top 10 Tuesday: On A Whim

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It combines what I love most in this world into one—lists, books, and blogging. It couldn’t be any better suited for me! We all have those books that we pick up because they have been on our lists for years, but this week’s Top 10 is all about the books I’ve picked up just because they looked appealing at the time. Let’s get started! 1. The Secret History by Donna Tartt I picked this book up when I was buying Christmas presents for my family. I’m not sure why it spoke to me, but when I read the…

Top 10 Tuesday: Leaving My Comfort Zone

Top 10 Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010. It combines what I love most in this world into one—lists, books, and blogging. It couldn’t be any better suited for me! This week is dedicated to the best books I’ve read recently that were completely out of my comfort zone. As you may or may not know, I read a lot of young adult fiction, but in 2015, I tried to challenge myself by reading books that were completely different. Let’s see which ones were my favorites… 1. Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie I loved this children’s tale from the moment I opened its cover. It’s such…

Yes Please by Amy Poehler 7. The Time Machine by H. G. Wells 8. Unbroken by Laura Hilenbrand 9. The Invisible Man by H. G. Wells 10. Wild by Cheryl Strayed 11.…

    Survivor

Title: Unbroken Author: Laura Hillenbrand Genre: Biography Quotation: “Where there’s still life, there’s still hope.” Would recommend to: any who likes to root for the underdog. Laura Hillenbrand’s novel chronicling the life of Louis Zamperini is both informative and inspiring. By telling the tale of Zamperini’s life, Hillenbrand also informs readers about the truth behind prisoner-of-war situations during WWII. I’ve always been very interested in history, and I’ve even heard people talk about their time in POW camps. But I can honestly say that nothing made me feel more emotions than hearing what Hillenbrand reported of Zamperini’s struggles. He was definitely the underdog of his own story. Although you believe he is the star after…
